About RPO Portal

The Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) Portal is a dedicated platform developed by the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) to streamline and monitor compliance with Renewable Purchase Obligation mandates in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This portal serves as a one-stop digital interface for obligated entities and designated consumers to register, submit compliance reports, and track their RPO fulfillment status.

The initiative is aligned with the Government of India's commitment to promote renewable energy and ensure energy sustainability. By ensuring RPO compliance, Uttar Pradesh moves a step closer to achieving national renewable energy targets, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and mitigating climate change. RPO is a statutory obligation under the Electricity Act, 2003 and relevant State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) regulations. It mandates that a certain percentage of electricity consumption must be sourced from renewable energy. This portal is a critical tool for ensuring transparency, accountability, and progress toward a greener and more sustainable Uttar Pradesh.

Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) is a legal requirement mandating electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs), open access consumers, and captive power producers to procure a defined share of electricity from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro. It’s a critical policy mechanism to promote sustainable energy and reduce carbon emissions in line with national and state renewable energy targets. Through the RPO Portal, UPNEDA ensures proactive implementation of Renewable Energy Purchase Obligations to build a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
